"Hounds of Zeus" 0.5.0.0 Major Update Release!
Today we release our third major update, Dawn of Defiance “Hounds of Zeus,” which continues your odyssey across the Crossroads and into the Smolikas Mountains to confront the dangers of Zeus' Temple! To complete the shrines of Dionysus, Hera, and Hermes, you must survive the devastating cold of the expanded mountain biome, then journey deep into the sweltering Frostburn Caverns. Unlock the portal to a new raid zone far above the clouds, where you must turn back the sundial and face the mythic harpies! Prevail and you will be rewarded with new legendary weapons and gear, including the powerful mace, Voidstorm.
Before we break down all the features you can expect in this major update, here are a couple of things you should know.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Player Inventories
Previously Characters only retained their skills when moved to different world servers. With this new update, characters now also retain their inventory and hotbar items. Because of this change, you will notice upon your first relog into an existing character, their items will drop into a gravestone as a means of transitioning the character data to the new system. This is not a bug! On future relogs to that character, items will stay in your inventory as expected. Thank you!

KEY FEATURES:
Temple of Zeus – New Raid
Break the seal of Zeus’ Temple and journey into a new zone of skyborne arenas, where players can take on a brand-new raid either solo or with friends.
Three Mythic Harpy bosses stand between players and the rewards of Zeus’ Temple, with powerful new equipment awaiting those able to overcome them.
Expanded Smolikas Mountains
The Smolikas Mountains have been significantly expanded, transforming the frozen biome with new landmarks, challenges, enemies and secrets to discover.
Surviving the cold will require preparation, with fire and hearty meals becoming essential as players venture deeper into the mountains. An overhaul of status effects and the temperature system adds greater clarity and value to consumables, while new Stormwood Trees provide another valuable resource to discover.
Along the way, players will encounter new challenges inspired by the gods of Greek mythology – from filling the chalice of Dionysus and solving Hera’s constellation puzzles to racing through the gates of Hermes – as they work towards breaking the seal of Zeus’ Temple.
Frostburn Caverns
The expansion of Smolikas continues beneath the icy mountains, where players can venture into the molten core of Aegea through the new interconnected Frostburn Caverns, linking gateways and shrines. The caverns introduce further exploration and tiered combat alongside Sulfur, a new resource to discover and mine.
New Enemies
The mythological bestiary of the Crossroads expands again in Hounds of Zeus.
Intimidating Centaurs now roam the snowy Smolikas Mountains, presenting a dangerous new threat as players explore the expanded biome, while three formidable Mythic Harpy bosses await those who venture into the skyborne arenas of Zeus’ Temple. You can also fight a new-tier of enemy, the Captain Commander at the finalized soldier bases scattered around the Crossroads.
New Weapons & Gear
Hounds of Zeus introduces powerful new equipment, including:
· Shield of Dionysus
· Veiled Blade of Hermes
· Voidstorm, the Mace of Zeus
· Praetorian and Pathfinder armor sets
· Three new Unique-tier swords
The Shield of Dionysus, Veiled Blade of Hermes and Voidstorm each bring their own unique abilities, giving players more ways to develop their Spartan and prepare for the increasingly dangerous challenges found across the Crossroads.
Farming, Cooking & Building
Hounds of Zeus expands the survival experience with new farming and cooking mechanics, giving players new ways to grow, harvest and prepare the resources they need for their adventure.
Players can plant and tend new crops, use harvested ingredients to upgrade and enhance recipes, and make use of new facilities including a water reservoir, cooking pot and planter box.
New tools also give players greater control over their growing conditions, including Hera’s Sun Dial, which allows them to change the time of day and help get the most from their crops.
Players looking to make the Crossroads their home will also find a new collection of decorative items, including more stone furniture, trophy helm stands and improved rugs, alongside updated art for several existing facilities.
Improved Portaling
Traversal across the Crossroads is also being improved.
Players will unlock new portal locations as they progress, with each portal site allowing them to select their destination, making the network more flexible and easier to use.
With the new system, from any portal on the map you can travel directly to the other existing portals, including a new portal location in the Smolikas Mountains. Promethean Braziers now serve as one-way destination points.
Meet Platon & Grow in Mastery
Take the new portal from the Smolikas Mountains to the Dark Forest to meet Platon, the Architect. Complete this new NPC’s quests to improve your mastery and continue growing in strength.
Hounds of Zeus also increases the skill cap to 50, introducing new level 50 perks for all existing skills and giving players new ways to strengthen their Spartan for the challenges ahead.
Quality of Life & Presentation Improvements
Alongside the new content, Hounds of Zeus brings further improvements and polish across the game.
Frontend UI across the main menu and settings has received visual updates, alongside new options including difficulty selection and brightness calibration.
Other quality-of-life improvements include updated sound effects, invulnerability while spawning and minor controller improvements. Characters will also now bring their inventory and items with them across world servers, in addition to their skills, making it easier to continue their adventure across different worlds.
Whether you’re returning to discover everything that’s changed on the Road to 1.0, or preparing to begin your first adventure through the Crossroads, Hounds of Zeus is a great time to jump into Dawn of Defiance. With 40% off until October 22, 2026, there’s never been a better time to explore, survive and forge your legend among the gods, monsters and myths of Ancient Greece.
